The Town of Guestrow |

The community in the
heart of Mecklenburg |
|
| Guestrow was once
the residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg. The city has retained a fine
architectural variety from brick Gothic style to Classicism. The chateau
Guestrower Schloss is the most notable Renaissance chateau to have
been preserved in North Germany. The names Ernst Barlach, Georg-Friedrich Kersting, John Brinckman and Uwe Johnson are all linked with Guestrow. Concerts, exhibitions, and the traditional Organ Days, happening every year in July, are all part of the cultural highlights and events of the community. The extensive woodland and numerous lakes in the vicinity of the town invite to vigorous hiking. |
